Each year, July 24 is recognized as International Self-Care Day (ISD). This special day provides an opportunity to bring attention to the importance of taking care of one's self.

4 Tips to Self Care

Knowledge & health literacy: People with strong health literacy skills enjoy better health and well-being, while those with weaker skills tend to engage in riskier behaviour and have poorer health. Understanding our bodies, recognizing when something is not right, seeking help, asking questions and monitoring our health are great examples that can help with knowledge and health literacy.

Physical activity: Having regular physical activities helps manage your weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones & muscles and helps improve your brain health. Seek advice from a physician before starting any new strenuous exercise.

Healthy Eating and rational use of products: The benefits of healthy eating can not be stressed enough when it comes to our overall health. Healthy eating allows our bodies to consume the vitamins and minerals that help fuel our bodies and can assist in fighting off chronic disease. Does this mean can't kick back and enjoy ourselves by heading out for a bite to eat? Not really. Rational use of products is key.

Me Time: We saved me time for last because it is often overlooked in our busy lives of work, taking care of our families and running our households. Everyone deserves a break. From reading a book and watching movies to going for a walk or just having a pot of tea at your favorite spot, taking a break can clear your mind, help you relax and feel refreshed.

Now for the fun stuff.............
